💰 How far does your money go?

A cold Mythos at a beach bar costs around €3. A full taverna meal with Greek salad, grilled meat, bread and a carafe of house wine: under €15 per person. Dinner for two rarely tops €30 at a local spot. You will spend less on an entire evening out than you paid for your flight.

☀️ The weather

July and August are the hottest and driest months across all four islands. Rhodes and Kos, in the Dodecanese, regularly hit 32°C with barely a cloud in the sky. Corfu, in the Ionian Sea, is slightly cooler at around 28°C but just as reliably sunny. Chania gets a refreshing northerly breeze that keeps temperatures at 27–28°C even in peak season, making it one of the more comfortable options in Crete for summer.

🏨 Where to stay

Three solid options across the islands.

Cavalieri Hotel — 8.3/10 · From €50/night
A boutique hotel in the heart of Corfu Town, steps from the Venetian Old Port. Rooftop bar with sea views. Excellent value for such a central location.

Atrium Platinum Luxury Resort Hotel & Spa — 9.1/10 · From €90/night
Adults-only resort on Rhodes with a private beach, multiple sea-view pools and polished service. One of the most popular mid-range picks on the island.

10GR Boutique Hotel & Wine Bar — 9.6/10 · From €160/night
Intimate hotel inside the medieval walls of Rhodes Town. Private wine cellar, rooftop terrace and exceptionally personal service.

🎯 What to do

Explore Rhodes Old Town — One of Europe's finest inhabited medieval cities. The Street of the Knights, the Palace of the Grand Master and a maze of Ottoman-era alleyways. Set aside a full day.

Cycle the coast of Kos — The flattest island in Greece, with dedicated bike lanes running along the coast for miles. Hire a bike in town and hop between beaches at your own pace.

Wander Corfu Town at dusk — A UNESCO World Heritage Site shaped by centuries of Venetian, French and British rule. Covered arcades, narrow cobbled streets and one of the best evening atmospheres in Greece.

Walk the Samaria Gorge from Chania — Sixteen kilometres through one of Europe's longest gorges, ending at a remote beach on the Libyan Sea. An early start and decent shoes. Nothing else needed.

🗺️ Where to go from here

Land on one island, then keep moving. Ferries connect the whole Aegean.

Santorini — Two to three hours by high-speed ferry from Rhodes or Kos. The caldera views are as good as every photograph suggests.

Kefalonia — A short ferry from Corfu. Bigger, quieter and strikingly beautiful, with some of the clearest water in Greece.

Heraklion — An hour's drive east of Chania along the northern coast. The Minoan Palace of Knossos and Crete's best food market are both here.

Paros — Three hours by ferry from Rhodes or Kos. A relaxed alternative to Santorini, with the same quality of light and beaches, without the crowds.

Seven non-stop routes. Four islands. Fares from £54. Summers like this don't last long.
